I too have picked up my unit this morning.
It's not a particularly exciting product to unbox, but here are some pix. Please excuse the background mess!
Initial thoughts are - sweet! It looks great. Relieved there is a correct antenna adapting cable in the box! No HDMI cable of course, I have already purchased a new one.
So, so, so disappointed with the remote! It feels very very light (yes, with the batteries) and the overall quality feels very cheap.
The text on the buttons is a kind of dirty grey colour, the buttons themselves are just round rubber lumps.

I've asked Orb whether the Glo Premium Remote will be available in NZ, they do not know.
Any suggestions on the easiest way to purchase one from the USA or Australia? Does anyone know any reason why it wouldn't work with an NZ TiVo?

Well, In for a penny, in for a pound!
I've just purchase from Amazon.com the Glo Remote. The cost of international shipping is almost as much as the remote, sigh.
Hopefully it works! (don't tell my wife!).

Interesting to see it has an F connector for the aerial input. Despite this being logical the Freeview specs actually require STB's and TV's actually have a belling lee connector.

Either way.. you're better with an F-Connector if you can use it.. better connection.. probably not in this case though with that cable with the belling-lee connector at the opposite end :)

All it needs now is a Blu-Ray optical drive in it and it would be pretty much the perfect box wouldn't it?

Regarding the remote - I think the supplied one is great. Nice and curved and I thought the weight was perfect. The glo-remote does look cool though.

I played a joke on the wife - put the remote on the pillow between us. She rolled over during the night and it smacked her in the head. Didn't go down too well... didn't get breakfast this morning...

All those cables.. and pushing HD content and combine this with the price and they cant drop an HDMI cable in the box?

Plus you only get Wireless G and they're saying that it's worth $89? Hmm.. if I purchased a $50 USB wireless N stick from price spy would that work ;-)

Glad to see it atleast has a 320GB HDD. I'm going to give it a miss unil the hype dies down :-)

Anybody happen to know what HDMI cable(s) Telecom stores are selling and at pricepoint?

No HDMI cable does surprise me, it's a bit like buying a phone that doesn't have a charger in the box but instead it's an "optional" extra.

With the existing Freeview|HD boxes the decision to excluxe cables from the Zinwell box was an agreement with retailers to allow them to push high margin HDMI cables with the box rather than including a $10 cable in the box.

Can get HDMI cables for under $20 from Jaycar or I picked up a HDMI cable at EB for $25... a while back bought an HDMI cable off Trademe for $15 including postage... So people paying more than $25 for a cable are insane.

No kidding. It seems a bit silly to me to offer an "all in one" box without the option for an optical drive. We have too many remotes as it is!

The lack of HDMI cable probably reflects the fact that quite a few people don't have HDMI inputs on their TV. Bundling an HDMI cable means an increased cost, and no extra benefit to those customers. If you have a TV with HDMI input then it's no big deal to buy a cable yourself for ~$20 (or if you're an idiot, $50+)

It's a pretty common occurance. I noticed the same tactic with the PS3 slim when I bought it recently.

Just be thankfull you didn't live in the UK 20 years ago. They didn't even bundle mains plugs with electronic devices! You had to buy, and fit, the plug yourself.

Perhaps vendors will one day give you a choice of cables, i.e. HDMI or Component or Composite...

I have THREE spare cables from my TiVo box (composite RCA cable, the component RCA cable, and the little ethernet cable) yet the ONE I did want was not included.
