I realise this wont work in NZ, as its an american subscription you are buying. But this is cool, i didnt realise tivo offered this kind of service, where you dont have to buy there box, you can just add a tuner to your htpc and buy a tivo subscription!
What do you reckon our chances of seeing this in NZ are?

That would depend on who has the rights to what in NZ. If Telecom has the rights to all TiVo in NZ, then they may not be interested in selling that sort of product. Or if they only have rights to the STB.
And then how long they have exclusive rights for?
We may also have to see whats happening in Australia, and if they get it, then we might aswell.
