My mp4 videos are played via the free Quicktime player.
I can see them via the Tivo box on my PC but they all have a red circle with a diagonal line.
TiVo says that they are not in a format it can play.
Tivo Desktop Plus says that the recording cannot be transferred and may be copy protected.

Any ideas?

Are they download from the iTunes store. If so they have DRM (Digital Rights Management) Copy Protection on them so canonly be played on a computer with itunes installed and logged into your iTunes account.

No, I don't use iTunes.
I have come to the conclusion that these mp4 files have DRM Copy protection.
