I have recently reinstalled everything on my computer. I have been having a rather irritating issue that I have struggled to resolve.

The Issue: When I save a file to desktop, it does not appear until I refresh or press F5. It is only the desktop this happens to, and only when I save. I can create (right click - new etc) and delete an item and it appears/disappears immediately.

Analysis: I have discovered it is Tivo Beacon Service. If I reboot my PC with the service disabled or on manual in msconfig services.msc, the problem goes away. If I reboot with Tivo Beacon starting up the problem comes back.  I have even shifted to using Bonjour Service instead of TiVo beacon to no avail. I have reinstalled TiVo desktop and this has had no effect on the issue either. Any suggestions?

What operating system are you using? I have used the TiVo software on XP, Vista and W7 with no problems.

It may be possible that something else you have installed, conflicts with the TiVo software and that is the side affect you notice.

Well that is a possible "what". I suspect the How is going through all my non microsoft services in msconfig and see if anything else has the same effect.

This may take a while so still open to suggestions.

Try PyTivo instead. That should do the trick.

pyTivo can take a bit of effort to install, but it works great. It's much quicker than the tivo desktop software.

Well, I installed PyTivo as a service on my easyStore and it's just brilliant. It's more robust than Tivo Desktop, it's more flexible, and it is faster. I'm loving it.
