I've noticed if you leave TiVo lingering around for a while it will automatically switch to Live TV. Is there anyway to stop it doing it?

Not that I know of.  It is probably to stop screen burn.  I just turn my tv off when not watching anything.

I've noticed if you press pause, it stays on pause, but I haven't found a way to stop live tv if you leave TiVo on the menu screen.

If you replace the PROM, one of the hacks is to change the timeout to live TV.
