Hi, does anyone know how to find the total hard-drive usage on the Tivo? I can only find the amount each program will take up not how much has already been used.

Thanks

Interesting thread. Strange omission.

Thanks

For me it's something that I don't need to worry about.

If I use up all the space, the Tivo will just delete shows it has backlogged.

I usually have a-list and b-list shows. The A-list shows I have set to never delete until I say so. The b-list shows are filler, that I will watch if nothing else is on, but I don't care if they get deleted. They are set to delete when space is needed.

I don't need to know or care if the disk is 40% or 100% full, it doesn't make any difference to how I watch stuff.

It's similar to how some new Tivo owners get annoyed that Tivo is recording suggestions for you and 'using up disk space' and so they find the well buried config item to turn it off. It's harmless. It always deletes suggestions first.

Your needs of course might be different.

Peter

Use a program called kmttg.
You can also transfer files to and from your TiVo with it and it shows your hard disk usage/free space

+1 kmttg

Gives a good breakdown of % used for each channel, what bandwidths etc.

Cheers,
Joseph

Do you still need to buy the HNP to get the passcode with this software?

Yes, from the source

"Also the first time you launch kmttg you will be prompted for your 10 digit Media Access Key (MAK) which is needed to download & decrypt programs from your Tivos."

Cheers,
Joseph.
