That's how it's done over on another forum (GP *cough*) and it used to work well when a lot of people were posting. Helped me out when I first got my camera.

My take on it is critique if you want, if you want critique on your shots then ask.
You could make a specific thread for it, but I don't know if there is the volume here for it to work. Give it a go though, nothing to lose.

Went over that cable stay bridge the last time I was there, and it's really good looking as far as bridges go!

What is the technique for the bus tram shot if I may ask ? Slow shutter and pull back on the zoom lens?

That would be the one, shot at f20 to get 1/8 of a sec, that technique tends to work better with wider "standard zoom" lenses.

Have a Question re sharpness of pix - NOT DUE TO lens/body/movement

So let's assume there is no way you can change your lens/body and you use a tripod and your subject is not moving, you are using the lowest ISO possible, you are shooting at the sharpest aperture for your lens, assume you do not use RAW - how do you take the sharpest picture:

1) if shooting jpeg: do you set the sharpness on body softest or sharpest or in the middle?
2) what do you do post processing (i use adobe camera raw) - please let me know what you do in your software even if it's not ACR
3) others?

Also you could add 'use the mirror lockup' function on your camera if you want to get really pedantic about not introducing camera shake. On mine you set the 2 second delay and it raises the mirror, waits 2 seconds and then takes the shot. Or use extra weight to hold your tripod steady etc. I also think there is debate around when to use image stabilisation for the sharpest picture/video etc.

joker97: i use adobe camera raw

If you haven't tried it, I'd seriously recommend taking a look at Adobe Lightroom. there are some pretty massive real time corrections in there for the likes of adding controlled sharpness/chromatic aberration (purple fringing etc) correction. It's really been an eye opener for me that product.

Well first you would shoot in RAW. :P

Personally I use Lightroom 4, but adobe Camera RAW might have similar functions. First apply lens profile. Second, move "Sharpening" slider up untill it looks good. Resizing the image can reduce effective sharpness, make sure yo sharpem the image at the size it's going to be view at. When using lightroom you can let it auto sharpen the image for the correct size when you export it.

Did I mention shoot in RAW?

If you want the SHARPEST images you can possibly get, you would shoot in RAW (seems to be a theme here) and use Canon Digital Photo Professional with the digital lens optimizer function. This would require you to use one of the slowly growing list of profiled lenses though.

Edit: Should also mention the output medium also changes how much you need to sharpen an image.

You should also mention that a RAW image may not initially seem as sharp as JPEG as no internal sharpening has been applied.

You are correct, I used a canon telephoto lens at f20 to get 1/8 of a sec.

Not sure why the comments I posted with each photo stating the settings I used didn't show up in my original post?
