I do already have a 40D but don't want to take it overseas with me.
Playing with the 1100D I do quite like it, I will let you all know if it keeps up with us in Vegas, LA and Hawaii.
For me the risk of warranty for a couple of $$$ wasn't worth it in the end.
I got second hand (just) the shutter count showed 2 photos and it was only a month old so has warranty as well.
