Yeah that sort of thing. I didn't know you could do that with a phone. I could buy a $10 cable and copy the images to a portable hard drive. Does the S4 have enough power to spin up a 750GB USB3 hard drive?


I've not tested with a spinning disk but from what I've read online no they don't have the juice to power one.
If you used a powered usb hub then you'd get around that issue though.

I personally use a Vosonic VP8870 but not sure if they're still available. Had it for 5 years and works a treat with a 500GB HDD in. Travelled all over the world with it and will be taking it to Namibia this year.

Hyperdrive is the sort of thing I mean. I ended up ordering the one I mentioned above that has memory card slots and Wifi, and I'll take a portable USB disk too. Not as easy, but cheaper.

I'll report back in a few weeks when I've tried it out.
