Oh where did you find that? Nice. I would probably have jumped at that price, lowest pricespy shows for NL is $1359.

A few months ago NL had 20% off several camera makes, including Sony, plus a $250 voucher if you bought over a certain amount. So I bought a A6000 plus 16-50 kit for $1035 (ish), got the voucher and put that towards a 55-210 lens which was only $280 to begin with, so I actually paid only $30. Very happy chappie. Unfortunately they couldn't get stock from Sony so after about a month of waiting they nicely changed the order to a proper twin lens kit which they got from another store.

I didn't bother mucking around with second hand when I bought my OM-D E-M1. Got a good (discounted) price on a new camera with adequate kit lens, and obviously because it's new it has a warranty. Why pay stupid second hand prices if there's no warranty anyway?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

yep i agree. glad to know its not just me finding ludicrous prices on trademe.

when i sell stuff i price it to sell. i know its worth and i dont waste time with stupid half my asking price offers either. recently sold my boat for $200 within asking price, could have held out and got $2k more for it, but got what i paid for it so thats fair. why are people so damn greedy.

anyway, yep going new. cheers all.

One thing I have noticed with Trademe vs Ebay in Australia is people in NZ try sell things used for more than what they cost new.

Nothing more so evident for me right now than used DSLR's

Take a simple d5200 for example. Most are wanting the price of a new D5300.

I really wish we had ebay in NZ not trademe, I hate its UX as well.

Camera prices are odd here. A new Nikon Df is in fact more expensive than a D810 - and NZ is the only country in the world I can find where that is the case.

Depends.

In the US, 'street price' for new cameras is usually lower than RRP.

In NZ, RRP is usually what you have to pay unless you know the store well - there is no tradition of discounting.

If people however are stupid enough to buy products for the price they're offering then they're idiots.

And I can find multiple examples of said idiots.

I tried that, it kept extending the existing link, despite only the first line being an actually created link.

E.g.:
Link address with explanation
This also becomes link explanation so does this.
And sometimes this.
Unless I "unlink" it all.

So I tried [http://asdasdasd] explanation here [/url*
But it didn't like something in the URL for that to work either.

But that also failed. This is across multiple machines, so it can't just be me?

Briscoes will not negotiate, and would rather see you leave when something is not on sale rather than come back with a counter offer to me saying I will pay them half the ticket price. Camera places and the likes of harvey norman / noel leeming are usually quite happy to negotiate a deal
