mdf: Beautiful clear skies in Welly. Looks amazing!

Yes, I wish I had the skills to get what I just watched in awe on film.

Clear enough in Halswell, but not exciting in the end. Pity it wasn't 6am or earlier, it looked larger last two mornngs due to the closeness and atmosphere effect

I doubt you would be able to tell the difference between a supermoon and a regular moon.

For those that don't want to go outside. Live stream of the moon on Youtube.

I'm watching a live stream live in person out live in the back yard. Live.

Photos tomorrow when I grab them off the camera...

Not sure I agree with that. Ive seen plenty of Moons that look a lot larger at horizon level, and plenty that look regular size. Same background, etc.

Well. As it turns out the iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn’t capture the moon in its full glory.

Then I get owned by my partners Galaxy S21 Ultra:

Then straight after the peak of the blood moon we have a full power outage… Power is still not restored and my network UPS is on its final moments.

Had perfect view from our place. Very cool to watch, the kids enjoyed it a lot. Photos not as good as hoped, taken on FZ-200

Same in Horowhenua. The standout was how clear the rest of the sky looked as the reflected light from the moon faded out.

My pictures came out so well, I simply don't want to post them on a public forum, for fear of missing out on some revenue.

The potato that I took them with has an incredibly good sensor.

It was a great sight to see :)

I took this heavily cropped in photo from our house in Woodend by Christchurch, with a Sony a7R III and a 100-400mm lens.

Great photos. Somewhat off topic, but what colour temperature / white balance did you guys use to get the red colour? I am a weekend clogger when it comes to photography. I can usually get the aperture and shutter settings right after some trial and error, but the white balance eludes me.

I am in Auckland and kept popping outside to have a look from around 7.20pm until finally giving up at about 11pm.

It was a clear view of the moon every time I looked, but apart from the obvious 'shadow' from the eclipse, it seemed to lack much in the way of 'blood'....

Just went a bit dull.

Methinks 'blood moon' was overselling it somewhat.
