I use Cyberlink Power Director it's a purchased product you can get it as a 365 version, or a single paid license. It's not hugely expensive but it does get good write-ups.

Davinci Resolve is a great video editor that provides older versions for free when they release new version.

 

 

there is always a free version of the latest version of DaVinci Resolve. great tool, but there is a learning curve. served me well when i played with separate audio tracks and a bit of colour grading. lots of plugins available too.

 

for simple cutting, combining, adding simple text and even separate audio track/s, i find shotcut ample.

 

openshot mentioned above looks promising. might give it a whirl.
