Briscoes have no sale on items when I want one of them. Ive bought so many things on my phone while in briscoes because they were so damn expensive so bought from elsewhere.

I have only been to Briscoes a few times but have had some luck with requesting an item that was on special that they where out of stock of and them just saying "Pick another similar item and I'll give you the same discount"
TeaLeaf: i like how ebay has a lot of tutorials for selling specific items. trademe cant even get basic search engine functions in their UX.
At least you can do a search in expired listings now for TradeMe. But it still is nowhere near as good as eBay. Especially if your item is rather niche (as many specific camera models are), you are likely to not get any hits at all.

Fair enough, it only goes for a couple of hundred USD on Amazon.
This is an interesting thread as I am constantly amazed by the price differential compared to the UK, where I'm from. Cameras that are listed on TM for what I consider a crazy amount of money could be had for relative 'buttons' on Ebay UK. I'm thinking about the likes of an Alpha 100 I saw recently for $250 - they struggle to make 50 quid on the UK market.
I sold my NEX-C3 recently on TM with a couple of old Canon FD primes for near to $400 which I was happy with - in price terms, the body cost me 100 quid about four years ago and the lenses about 25 quid each so I think the price I got was pretty good.
I used to stalk the second hand and 'cash converter' type stores in the UK and got some great bargains in those, usually because they had no idea what they were actually selling. I once picked up a Raynox DCR-250 ( I think that's the model) for ten quid when it was worth nearer fifty or sixty new and it was immaculate and boxed. I also picked up a Canon macro ring flash (the expensive one) for ninety quid and sold it on Ebay for 350 :-)
There are a couple of potential bargains near me in second hand shops - in particular I'm eyeing a Sony A6000 with single lens for $599, seriously tempting !! I picked up a Pentax K-x about a month ago for $180 too, so I use that for night shots due to it's excellent low light capability.
