Kārearea in Abel Tasman National Park a week or so ago. These had nested close to the sea - very nice to see them there, but all the small birds, bellbirds, tui etc had cleared out of the area (or had already been eaten perhaps...).

Went out for a walk today.

This little flew onto a branch a couple of meters away. I started to back off so I could get him in focus (min focus distance is about 5m) but he jumped down onto the path and followed me :saddowns:
I stopped and he came within about 1/2 a meter away and just looked at me waiting for me to move again. He was looking for bugs under the leaves I was disturbing.

I continue to be envious and in awe of of Raikyn’s skills and results, but I’ve finally managed a macro shot myself worthy (well, in my view anyway smile ) of posting here.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Off topic but this chap took a number of iconic plane photos in the 1980's. IE harriers, red arrows.

He started posting some stories behind the pictures which might interest some.

The curious effect of atmospheric refraction - created a landscape that isn't really there. This at about 600mm.  The apparent buttes etc in the background are the Inland Kaikouras, seen from Chch.

Contrast/levels enhanced to show the effect.

Thanks, looks like you've got the hang of it, just takes time and patience really and learning creatures habits.
