alvin: I'm interested on getting a black rapid strap. I'm torn between the R5 and R7. It seems that R5 is much better because of its extra pockets and phone compartment. I'm not sure if it is bulky with all of the extra pockets. R7 it seems is ergonomically designed and compatible with MODS. It is the plastic locking/buckle of the R7 that I'm concerned about. Anyone has any recommendations please.

I've got an RS7 - very comfortable. Photo Warehouse stocks them. I didn't want the RS5 as it looked a bit bulky. I was too early, but the recent Sport 2, basically a cut-down Sport, looks good. All their clips are plastic, not sure what you don't like about the RS7 one that isn't the same on the others.

thanks for the reply, chainsaw and you are correct that all of them are plastic. It is the plastic lock/unlock buckle of RS7 that I'm concerned. Does the RS5 have a locking buckle?

i might head to photowarehouse to try the straps out and see them up close.

Yeah - "pass'. Best to look yourself. Lots of info on BR site and reviews on youtube - heaps in fact.

Another vote for DPReview.
Personally I was set to buy a micro 4/3 camera until I went into the shop, picked it up and the feel of the camera was all wrong for me (big hands small buttons). Got a Canon 500D instead because it felt best. Happy with it and use a mix of kit lens, prime and Tamron 10-24 to get what I want from the camera. Now keen on moving onto get something a bit beefier and thinking of getting a better body which matches my lens but all budget constraints mean it may be a while!
Therefore my best suggestion is do a review to see what matches your wants to identify a limited number of options then go into a specialist camera shop such as Wellington Photographic Services and get a feel of the camera and buy it.

Hi Alvin. I've used OpTech Pro straps for both bodies and bags for years. I don't know who stocks them these days as I bought mine 15+ years ago and they're still in use and still working perfectly. Very comfortable and really do make gear seem lighter.

I use OpTech straps, but I throw away the neoprene straps and just use the webbing parts. It fits over my shoulder and doesn't swing around. Much easier with multiple cameras.

FWIW I've been getting good use of my m4/3 Olympus E-P3. I've found it to be a pretty versatile little camera which I can put into its pouch and put that into my satchel without needing to lug around a "big" DSLR camera, and for my use it works just as well (I don't do much high-ISO shooting).

Thinks to note, generally speaking, the "cheap" Panasonic/Lumix lens appear to be a bit better than their equivalent "cheap" Olympus/M.Zuiko lenses, the Panny 20mm pancake is pretty highly regarded. The 17mm Oly prime is a nice lens though, very fast and pretty quiet.

I had my initial doubts about the camera, but after getting to grips with its quirks and finding some of the "hidden" settings in the menus, the IQ is much improved, although I'm still lusting after their 12mm f2.0 "Pro-grade" prime.

I've got fairly gorilla-like hands and the only aspect of the camera I have issues with is the rotary jog-dial, and the bigger roller-control can be used instead of that for most functions.

I've also found that Cameta.com is a good alternative to BHPhotoVideo, with less horrific shipping costs. Nowhere near the range though.

I can confirm that the Panasonic 20mm is an exceptionally good lens considering the size and price.
