The price might not drop that rapidly, as these are a niche product and not for the average consumer unless they have a local geek at hand. We upgraded to VDSL at home and that involved a new router with new wireless settings. Easy for me, but non-trivial for your average home computer user to reconfigure the SD WiFi card.

Personally I could not be happier with our Eye-Fi Pro card in the Mrs camera. I particularly like being able to set it to dump all photos to the computer but keep X volume of the most recent photos on the card (so a few days down the track you can show other people photos that were taken recently on the camera). Not sure whether other vendors offer this functionality.

I've got one of those Eye-Fi 8GB cards. I used it as part of a rather convoluted photo booth.

I helped build a solution using this card for my company. Pretty cool, but there are more open cards available now.

I bought a 16GB Eye-Fi card from Amazon and love it.

Was at a wedding recently and used it on my Sony Nex-5N camera. It was great to be able to take pictures in decent resolution (I was shooting RAW and JPG) and have a version sent to my Nexus 5 at the same time to show and share. Even movies recorded on the camera came across fine.

Those who think pictures taken on phones are of good quality really don't understand what good quality pictures are all about. There is no substitute for decent lenses and optical zooming on a camera.

Here is a picture of the camera setup - a remote triggered a custom cable release, then we had a little canon selphy printer connected to a laptop receiving the images.

I seem to recall seeing one where you added a micro SD for the storage, and the card was just an adapter with wifi in it.

That would suit me more if it had different auth details per micro SD so I could be sure that each batch of photos went to the right place, and the right place only, vs having to get multiple eye-fi cards and juggle multiple accounts.

Sounds like a very unusual set of requirements to me. You could ask someone like Eye-Fi to consider developing a product offering that read a config file from the MicroSD card.

The other product you were referring to seems to be the PQI Air Card (or similar). A very nice idea. They don't obviously indicate where the config is stored, but you might be lucky and they might just store it in a config file on the MicroSD card that you insert, meaning you can manipulate the config based on the storage card used. http://www.pqigroup.com/prod_in.aspx?mnuid=1286&modid=138&prodid=426

Yeah thats the one. It looks like it just exposes the content via a server and accesspoint running on the card rather than communicating with any servers. I know one of the other wifi sd cards had quite a few hacks for it so perhaps someone has made that one run something more useful.

I would go for another couple of eyefi cards if they didnt insist on using the same details on where stuff goes across all cards on an account.

How else can you get the photos from the card in the camera? If you plug usb cables into most cameras they stop being cameras and become rather large usb sticks.
