I have some old 8mm films from the 50s and 60s that I want to view, but a couple of them, the sprocket holes are facing the wrong on the reel. Is there an easy way to turn them over without them ending up a tangled heap on the floor? The reel is meant to go on the projector with the film hanging off clockwise, currently it would be anti clockwise. Changing the pulley on the projector is not an option

Buy another reel and roll the 8mm onto it..

or I presume you have a blank reel already (as what do you reel it onto on the projector)

Are you sure you are not just at the end of the reel and you just have to rewind it back onto another reel going the correct way.

No its a full reel, and have wound it via the projector onto another reel

So you have an empty real at the moment ...

I presume the problem is the 8mm film is backwards on the reel.. why not just wind it via the projector and turn it 180 Degrees around..

and if the movie plays back ways.. rewind it back onto the original reel without a twist..
