Has anyone purchsed a dropcam / canary / piper security camera?
Been reading reviews online but hard to says who's getting paid and who's not. The reviews also vary bigtime!

Ideally i would also prefer outdoor version which neither of them are...i know you can buy outdoor casings for dropcam but not sure what that would be like.

Used to have the logitech alert indoor and outdoor...outdoor version was amazing but missing some uptodate features...like live rewind in the mobile app. Besides all that...the product line has been discontinued... :/

Requirements
- host or put recordings in cloud
- android app that views in landscape
- night vision
- microphone
- mobile alerts (not email only email)

Im open to other suggestions....

Thanks

After looking at Dropcam and others I bought one these from Y Cam http://www.homemonitor.me/cameras/homemonitor-hd/

P
urchased it from Amazon and bought a local NZ power cord. I'm VERY happy with it. Fits all your criteria which for the most part was mine to.

I think Dropcam is slightly better both hardware and software but the big draw with Y Cam is the free 7 day cloud storage.

They have other models and an outdoor one to.

I have mine mounted in the garage, considering another one.

Hope that helps!!

I could be wrong (often are) but I don't think Dropcam have a free 7 day recording. You can live stream for free but any recording will cost you. As I say could be wrong now that Nest have acquired them but from their site:

7-day cloud recording
1st Dropcam: $9.95 / month or $99 / year (two months free!)
Each additional Dropcam on 7-day cloud recording, 50% discount: $4.95 / month or $49 / year (that's two months free!)

30-day cloud recording
1st Dropcam: $29.95 / month or $299 / year (two months free!)
Each additional Dropcam on 30-day cloud recording, 50% discount: $14.95 / month or $149 / year (that's two months free!)

I think charging per camera is a very expensive way of doing things and this is why I stayed away from them at the time I ordered.

Awesome, need to see the quality of the outdoor one.

With ycam, can have the option of hosting your own footage on a pc ?
Need to also see if the app has a demo like dropcam....helps identify quality too.
