I was taking some snaps with my Canon G10 yesterday when I noticed the images becoming whiter and whiter. The image on the LCD display looks fine but the saved image appears way over exposed. I suspect my camera has bit the dust.

Any further insights very much appreciated.

I guess you're probably correct that the camera is borked - and won't be worth fixing.
But before dumping it, double-check that you haven't done something like set it to a manual exposure mode, set it to maximum ISO when shooting outdoors in bright light or similar, or if there's a way to reset all settings to default, then try that. Even removing the batteries for a while, then replacing them.
If you were able to upload one of the affected and unedited jpg (so that the exif data is intact) files and post a link, I or one of the other posters here could take a look and suggest whether it might be a settings issue - or that there's probably an issue with the camera. Not 100% guaranteed of course.

Thanks and yes - I have double checked all the camera settings. My theory is the shutter might be jamming or the sensor is screwed.

Does it work fine without flash indoors?

If yes it's likely the aperture blades are not working ie it's shooting wide open all the time. If that's the case shoot wide open ask the time using aperture priority.

Changing the aperture settings helped a bit i.e. changed to F8.0 and it is possible to see an image. Still over exposed but some colors are visible. Looks like the end of the road for the G10.

Great cameras are the g-series. I had one fail with interlaced lines through the images, especially in bright scenes. Try the factory reset and get a replacement :)
