Anyone have experience with this?  I have never been down there in autumn, only Dec/Jan.  Is it mid to late April in the areas of Twizel, Tekapo, Cromwell, Wanaka?  Is Cromwell worth it?  Do people simply wait it out if the weather turns to custard and focus solely on the yellow leaves ie - skip the Westcoast and Mt Cook.

Thanks.

I would think Arrowtown is the most spectacular. I was in Queenstown this morning before flying home and asked an Aunt who lives there when it changes, problem is the trees change at different times. The whole of Central was spectacular today, it's so dry everything is golden, blue skies, everything looked like a Graham Sydney painting.
