krispienz: I recently bought a Panasonic HC X1 4K UHD CAMCORDER from BH. It came with a two pronged AC plug. Do I really need a step-down transformer or will the travel plug adapter do? Thanks in advance.
Depends entirely on the rated voltage of the adapter. What does it say on it?
He means the power adaptor. Not the pin type adaptor
If input voltage is 110 and not 110-230v it will let magic smoke out no matter what your pin adaptor can handle
that will work fine in NZ :)
That is just the pin adapter plug. It does nothing to the voltage or current, it only converts the us pins to the NZ pins.
Usually there is some kind of AC adaptor, that converts from the mains power supply to DC voltage. You need to describe more the cables/power supplies that go from the wall plug to the camera.
What came in the box?

TOTAL LOADING 10A 250VAC
That's the picture of the converter adapter you have put. Can you post a picture of the actual power adapter that came with the camera, it should say the rated input voltage on it somewhere.

This is the AC Adaptor. Thanks for bearing with me.
That should be fine, input says 110-240V

That will work fine in NZ. It also looks like a figure 8 cable. You should spend $3 or so buying a correct AS/NZ to figure 8 cable rather than using a travel adapter.
