So im trying to change from using my cheap action camera to a slightly better video camera for recording stuff.

Problem is the action camera makes nice sensible files on the SD card, on file per recording, broken up if its too long.

Video camera buries things sever folders deep as .MTS files (PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM) is the usual folder it seems.

Is there any easier way of dealing wth these other than going into that folder to grab them and save them to the PCs storage and rename them with sensible names?

Also any easy way to tell if a camera does this stupid carryon with the files before buying it? Had I knowen I would have passed over on the sony for something else.
