Hello all,
Looking into getting a drone & have my eyes on the Mavic Air.
I know the new Mavic 2 & Zoom have arrived but they are out of my price range.
Can anyone share their experiences with the Mavic Air - pros & cons.
Thank you

My experience so far has been that it really hits the sweet spots of price, performance and portability. Get the Litchi app and it will fly autonomously around a pre-planned course. If possible, get the Fly-More combo for the extra batteries and the carry bag, well worth it.
I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

My thinking was with the new ones coming out that the old ones would drop in price and they are still regarded as very good drones.
Definitely with price, performance and portability.
Looking at getting the fly-more combo for those batteries, plenty of flight time. Will look into the Litchi app.
Thanks for the advice.

I got the Mavic Air Fly More Combo a few months ago and really like it. Even in the carry bag, the drone and accessories are all small enough to stow in my carry-on luggage when flying, which is great - I don't like the thought of checking it in, especially the batteries (are you even allowed to??)
As others have said, it does hit that sweet spot for price, portability and function. I am yet to use some of the more advanced features but am looking forward to trying these all out over the coming months.
I bought one these Mavic Air drones earlier this year. I have been very impressed with the video quality, and the stabilization is very good giving rock steady images even in quite high winds.
One thing I was caught with was that I have a large screen cell phone and while it fitted the controller ( not very well) at a pinch, the cable supplied was not long enough to connect. I tried to buy a longer cable but I was told there is no such thing as Mavic have their own propriety type of connectors. I bought a new cheapo cell phone of a smaller size to use on the drone controller only and it connects and works perfectly.
I bought the optional pack as well that has two extra batteries and a case etc.
I have not flown it that much and have not been that adventuress with it yet, so still have a way to go getting the hang of all the features on it and the different fly modes.
As an aside, I live in Christchurch and would like to meet up with someone or group who have similar drones to go out on a fly day and share operating information.
The Mavic air seems well made and quite robust. I hit a moving object with it and the drone cartwheeled about three meters to the ground but no damage and still operated fine.
The reason I bought this model was that it was quite small and compact but with good quality video. I want to learn how to use the tracking features so that I can video my son and I when out mountain biking. Being able to pop it in a small bike back pack was a plus. The range of two km is far in excess of what I need.
Yep today went for it, purchased the Mavic Air fly more combo. Charging everything up getting it ready for a whirl.
Thanks heaps everyone for your input.
Up, up and away...................
