I have been looking for a pair of these for some while. They are pretty expensive but excellent for long range birding or other observation and in particular for astronomy.
I was just about thinking of buying a pair of the 15x50 which are circa $2100 here in NZ.
Since I am heading to Sydney soon, I thought I would just have a look and see what they cost there.
Imagine my surprise to find them on sale at AUD $1294, genuine Canon Australia product from a main dealer. That is almost $750 cheaper than NZ...! If you were to claim the GST back at the airport, that would knock off another AUD 100 or so.
Warranty from Canon is 24 months in both countries. Consumer legislation is broadly similar.
It seems a massive disparity.
