I am looking at a new inkjet printer.

Key is how much to run so looking at multiple ink tanks.

Happy that it does A4 only, basically do not care if it has loads of features, just want it to print good quality B&W and color

Budget $200-$300

Any ideas please ?

I have owned 3 A3 printers. If you want proper photo printers they don't come cheap. The only way I have found it economical is to buy second hand printers which can often be nearly free esp if they come with ink and papers. Buying and operating a printer isn't cheap IMO doing it yourself and assuming no mistakes after you account for the ink and paper and assuming your time is free you might save 20%. So a A4 print might cost $6 you save $1.20.

You need the more expensive printers that take more number of ink cartridges. Also the printer which has a proper b/w printing mode but some people would pull out the color cartridges and install a multi b/w cartridge system. If you are wanting b/w, the more expensive printers would take matte and art papers.....

I have an Epson L405 bought direct from Epson and with 3 year warranty. Over a year now and hardly made a dent in the large ink tanks. Prints well normal documents and I even have printed some photos which I was pleasantly surprised with when printed on photo paper which came cheap with the printer at the time.

How have you found the gravity paper feed from the top?? The last time I had one like this it started to feed more than one sheet of paper after a couple of years.

Save up and get the Eco Tank, you will save that $100-$200 in a few months just on ink alone. Otherwise recommend a mono laser printer if you don't need colour, otherwise any inkjet really, they all work the same, best get a cheapy one that does what you need.

Google brother promotions, there are a few at the moment where you can claim back.
