Hi there -

I saw an earlier topic (VHS-C Tapes) and was hopeful there might be someone else with a VHS-C tape adapter lying around...

I didn't think they'd be so hard to come by, and so bought one from a company in the UK, but after taking weeks to arrive the damn thing doesn't work.

I've got a converter and have done all of my full-sized VHS tapes, but have about 12 VHS-C tapes of holidays from many years ago that I really want to preserve.

Does anyone have one lying around I could borrow or buy?   I'm in Auckland - happy to pay postage etc... and would take good care of it!

Many thanks in advance,

David

Wow, haven't used one of those since ~'95

There's one for sale on TM for $40, but it's from overseas.

Good luck!

- Silly question, but you have put an AA battery in it right?

Yes, that's the one - exactly :)

Yes they take ages to come from the UK, and when it arrived it didn't work. Am really hoping someone might have one lying around!

Cheers

Unfortunately not, the mechanism inside that extends the tape across the top is completely munted, one of the 'arms' for want of a better word was moving around inside - I could hear it when I opened the package :(

I used to be very good at fixing and improvising mechanical bits and pieces. I'm getting older and haven't done it for awhile, but if you want to send me the device I could give it a go. No promises or guarantees of any kind but I guess you don't have much to lose at this point. PM me if interested. No charge even if I succeed. It would be helpful if you could also include a tape for testing.
