Where are the best places to have some photos printed? Just regular 6x4 prints is fine. We want to print out a bunch of digital holiday and family photos we have accumulated over the years.

Local shops like Warehouse and Harvey Norman are priced at around $0.25 per print, so it would get expensive quickly. Any recommendations?

An alternative could be to buy a printer and do it ourselves. How does this stack up economically, and what would be a good printer to go for?

DIY printing would be more expensive!

I would have thought Harvey Normann was cheaper than that... They do have specials on sometimes where you can print small (aka 4x6) for cheaper than usual. Migh tbe worth keeping an eye out..

Photo labs will be quicker, easier, and probably cheaper for printing 6x4s. Find to a photo lab that offers a bulk discount.

Beware that cheap prints often come on cheap paper, which is thinner than what you might be used to, so I'd get a few done as a sample first. WPS (wps.net.nz) usually goes a good job.

I use a professional lab, who use great paper and are actually fairly cheap at volume. If you send me a message I could look at their pricing later.

Can't remember, haven't ordered prints in a couple of years, but I think I still have the software installed. Their pricing is pretty good regardless of volume, but at volume I remember it being very competitive. It's not published online, I'd have to look at the price list PDF.

Snapfish is pretty cheap. But I’ve found their quality sometimes lacking. Need to play with brightness

I just had a look at my pro lab pricing. Pricing even for bulk is similar to most photo labs, but the quality is as high as you will find anywhere - good thick paper, great color.
