I have 80 odd old family photos on kodachrome transparency slides. Used to view with a very old slide scanner projector.

Tried without much success in scanning them in.

Can anyone in Dunedin recommend a good photo conversion company? Currently looking at harvey norman...

And what were the results like?

Don't want to courier as risk to high.

Thanks.

When I had a bunch of slides to scan (several years ago), I bought a slide scanner, did all the scanning and then sold it.  Worked out much cheaper than getting them done professionally.

Something like this:

BTW, I recently bought a camera from this supplier and their service is excellent

I considered that option. But since there is less than 100, upwards of $400 to buy, not really worth the cost for a one time use.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on second hand dedicated film scanners that has been long discontinued then the only real option is buying a new or used flatbed scanner that can scan film.  After that, it would mean taking the film to a local lab and ask them to scan it.

Maybe get a used flatbed scanner online on Trademe or Facebook on one of the photography groups there.  Use it and then sell it.

Do you still have the slide projector?  You can just use a digital camera maybe on a tripod and photograph your projected slide show.

Dunedin, don't you have a dedicated serious camera store there?  There is or was a Fuji place across the road from the Meridien Mall (George Street) and further up the road Jonathan's Camera Store or something.  It might cost a few dollars per photo to be scanned.
