I have a HP MFP M283fdw

When I hand feed a label sheet , on the print I get a thin white band show.

I dont get it on standard paper and when I feed a sheet inverted the stripe is still at the top so I assume its not the paper.

I ran the HP fault finder no faults found

Anyone got any ideas?

The white band maybe hard to see in the picture runs left right through the smiley faces

What if you use normal paper in the single sheet feeder - still do it?

What size are those sheets of labels, and what orientation are the sheets fed? i.e. is that white band running left-right across the printer, or top-bottom in line with the direction the paper moves?

in a laser/toner it's usually the Transfer roller on applicator drum can't handle the amount of powder to transfer to the thicker stock.

Basically needs a static charge to stick all the toner to. Then apply to the stock. If it's too thick or a bad/oily spot on that portion of roller it won't get an even coat.

Thinner paper may not get it as it uses less and not as close/much pressure.

Hah, I have the exact same printer model.  Shame about the lack of duplex scan to email functionality through the pseudo ADF huh?  Does it do it if you hand feed envelops?

Does not appear on plain paper

Can the "applicator drum " be cleaned?

Google suggests each toner cartridge has a small transfer drum. While the unit has a full width tranfer roller that collects it all up to tranfer to stock once picking up all the toner passes. So if it's only the yellow it'll be visible on the blue roller in that. But if it's the roller... Ouch.

Unsure if you can visibly remove/inspect that easily for wear signs.

... and how does it fare feeding an envelope through the front as a test?  It's an easy test with a thicker than normal media
