You can't buy it, you have to subscribe. I have a copy of CS3 (i think) that I purchased, and I now can't install it and use it beucase they have turned off the activation servers to allow the installed software to be activated. They apparently released a version for a short period on their website for affected customers that didn't need activation, but didn't email customers with an account to let them know. When I enquired about it, they refused to provide me with it.

Dun't help if you specifically want Photoshop, but this is a pretty good alternative.

They have sales fairly regularly.

Is there a specific reason you want PS rather than Lightroom? LR has some very good editing tools now, so unless you really want to dismantle and reassemble images or only want to edit in layers etc, LR will do 95% of the work now.

A couple of the new AI tools in PS are very good - especially the erase tool - but I expect that will make it's way to LR in due course.

Good points will give it some thought.

I have looked at that software before. Is it pretty similar to Photoshop, eg at least (CS6 features) and can it open all the older PSD files?

I use Photoshop CS6, works well. I activated it a year or so ago with no problems, but I expect that will become an issue at some point. At that point I will look for another software provider - I don't like monthly subscriptions.

Unfortunately I'm not really qualified to say as its basically my son who uses the three versions (Designer, Photo, Publisher) for his architecture degree. He's been happy with it for about 4 years though, but not sure how much he uses / imports / exports to Adobe formats.

Found this a decent and recent article if it helps -

You could do a trial and just fling stuff at it, unless you've done that already of course...

Adobe Creative Suite CS6 came out in 2012, so unfortunately no fancy modern generative AI.
