Help!

After weeks of research and talking to a variety of retail stores I am now totally confused as to what camera to buy.  Any feedback or actual experience with any in my shortlist appreciated.

After a compact with good zoom and good point-n-shoot capabilities that is missus proof.

Anyone have one?  What do you think?

or

Any photo-pro's out there care to offer an independent opinion?

Sony HX5V

At the top of my list.  Supposedly a better processor, HD video, and panoramic image capabilities, and awesome burst mode

Panasonic TZ10
http://www.digitalversus.com/panasonic-tz10-p360_7992_60.html
Not sure on this one, reportedly a disappointing upgrade to the older TZ7

Fuji F300EXR

Not a Fuji fan in the past but this one is supposed to be pretty good.  Dumb place to put a flash though!

Canon SX210 IS
http://www.digitalversus.com/canon-sx210-is-p360_8208_1.html
Was a Canon fan, but this one is reportedly a slug despite good picture quality, and also a dumb place to put a flash!  This ones bottom of the list and just about deleted

All are about the same price so cost isn't an issue.

Personally I would pick the TZ10. I've always like Panasonic's build quality, and the TZ series was the pioneering compact superzoom so any disappointment with the latest model is probably only because it had a hard act to follow.

i've never had problems with quality or support with either canon or sony, so those would be my picks. they are also both highly rated for lenses and final results if you ignore the cheapest in the lines

I'd pick the Panasonic if only for the extra optical zoom. Plus i've been more than impressed with the ones i've had a fiddle with.

Cheers for the replies. After a heap more research and a kind couple of PM's from GZ experts I have decided on the Sony.

Couldn't get my conscience to choose a Fuji after past experiences with that brand, and can't live with the Canon's slow operating speed or dumb flash placement, shame because I prefer Canon as a brand. The Panasonic looked promising but the more I look the more negative vs good comments I find.

Tally ho....

Hi guys

I have just been through the same process myself and have decided on the Panasonic TZ10.

The cheapest deal I can find is through Expert Infotech Ltd. Does anyone else have experience of dealing with this company? What are your thoughts?

Cheers.
