Hi.

"A-Data MicroSD card in A-Ram Retail Packaging from pconlineshop."

Has anyone else had this happen?

I ordered a 32GB Class 10 A-Ram microsd card from pconlineshop. It had good specs
"A-RAM 32GB micro SD Card,SDHC, Class 10, High speed, Full HD Video Comp. max read/write speed 20MB/s (133X)/18MB/s (120X), retail Pack"

The A-Ram packaging arrived and the card was 32GB class 10. There was no SD adapter.
The card was used in my Samsung Phone as media storage and worked ok for a few weeks. Over the last week the card is causing the phone to freeze, and I cant copy to or from the card or format it three different PCs.

On filling out a warranty request I discovered that the branding on the card was not A-Ram as per the packaging but A-Data brand. It is a class 10 card but has lower speed specs than the A-Ram.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I paid $105+gst, The A-Ram is currently listed on their site at $133.64 +gst The price trend on pricespy has jumped up twice since I bought it.

Hasn't happened to me, but A-Data is a well known and trusted brand and has been round over 10 years.

A-ram on the other hand is pretty new to the scene and I don't know too much about their quality, as I've never used them

In the test of A-Ram vs A-Data class 6 vs Kingston class 4 though, the A-Ram was only slightly faster, leading most to believe that A-Ram are overrating their cards

Based on those results, I wouldn't go near the A-Ram, apart from if I was on a very stringent budget and didn't care too much for performance

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Stranger & stranger!

After many unanswered emails and engaged phonecalls I finally got a replacement card today. It is an Imation branded card in A-Ram packaging. I have asked PC Online Shop for an explaination, also I have posted an enquiry with A-Ram and Imation ANZ.

Looks like something fishy going on at PC Online Shop or A-Ram.

Had the packaging been tamped with as that is odd? Imation are a premium brand.

No signs of tempering at all.

Original card that failed had A-Data branding on the card inside an A-Ram package.

The Imation US and Aus website don't list a 32gb microsd card.

Looking like a fake to me. I'll see what they have to say before opening it and thoroughly testing it for speed and capacity.

I thought customs blocked the importation of counter fit goods at the borders. I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions as there maybe a simple explanation, such as a return that has been incorrectly repackaged, but they do need to explain that sort of thing.
