I'm posting public 3D red / cyan anaglyph images here on Picasa.

You can see most of these and some others - still and video - here on 3DF33D.TV which supports many 3D viewing formats.

If anyone else wants to share theirs, in whatever 3D format, perhaps a dedicated thread of links (or images....but links load faster) might be useful.

What glasses do you recommend for anaglyph, and are they available in NZ? cheers : )

I got 6 pairs of red / cyan glasses via TradeMe. They were $6 each. The frames are solid plastic.....not paper.

They actually come from a party store in Wairau Rd, if you're on the North Shore. If not, they arrive in a couple of days via courier.

I use 'cross-eyed' (no glasses) often.....but to see a photo or video fullscreen on a big monitor you really do want the glasses.

I haven't got the point of spending $2000+ on a 3D TV. The $6 glasses and cross-eyed will do me fine for now. :-)

The advantage of the cross-eyed view is the colours are not dulled by glasses and you can adjust the parallax in an image with your own eyes as you look around "inside" it.

With red / cyan images, the parallax is fixed at the time the image was produced, so the centre of interest will usually be fine, but the farther away from it you go there tends to be 'ghosting'. Still....It's possible to photograph things of interest in such a way as to minimise this effect....or to manually adjust the parallax later as most 3D cameras actually take two images....and any conversion to anaglyph happens later in software.

A 3D video I made from some "scraps" I shot at the Canada vs USA exhibition hockey game at Vector Arena on July 23rd, 2011.

In 720p HD shot with a Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 digital camera.

Got some anaglyph glasses on the way (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/Other/auction-405118611.htm). Hopefully these are adequate and correct colour balance.

They should be adequate. They aren't perfect for colour....but they can be pretty good. The main trouble is the big red areas or big blue areas....

I look at it fullscreen on a large monitor with the brightness up a wee bit and it looks pretty good.

If you want to wait, you can get them much cheaper from deal extreme. I brought a pair and they are pretty good.

Fullscreen with red/cyan glasses is best. :-)

Harbour bridge gave excellent results.

Off topic - first time experiencing a light sensitive flu and finding out anaglyph is incredibly painful : ) .

I found a plasma lamp in the closet and thought it might be fun to make a 3D video.

I also discovered how important parallax can be.

The top video is shot with a Fujifilm Finepix real 3D W3 camera with the lenses 75mm apart.

The bottom video was shot with an LG Optimus 3D phone.

In side-by-side stereo mode, you find you have to cross your eyes more with the Fuji. In Red/Cyan anaglyph mode, you can't get the two aspects to line up at all with the Fuji as the plasma lamp is too close.

By comparison, the red/cyan anaglyph 3D is fine with the LG Optimus 3D as it's reduced parallax (25mm) copes much better with closer objects.

In either case, the side-by-side "cross-eyed" mode works fine as your eyes adjust to match whatever parallax is required.

I went to Piha yesterday (Saturday 17th September, 2011) and took a lot of 3D pics. :-)

I like this one. I've had to seriously shrink it to fit within the 200KB file limit on Geekzone. You can see the full image here. The original *.mpo file is 7Mb.

Red / Cyan glasses required to see the depth here. I'm really happy with this shot.
