RunningMan:

Is this actually a competition, or just a prize draw?

If it's a competition, give it to the winner judged by whatever the entry terms were - best/biggest/fastest whatever.

If it's a random draw, then chucking a dart or drawing from a hat would work.

Don't 'draws' have to be done by a Mayor, JP or police officer etc? But competitions can be done based on the content on the entry? Or maybe it is the otherway around. But I know that companies that run competitions tend to make it based on the content the entrant submits. But I do know that there are certain rules that need to be followed in NZ. If I was the OP I would check with the DIA website to make sure they are following them correctly incase they get a complaint.

That's sounds familiar - would pay to check.

I am turning off all notification for this post and never coming back to it.
I am giving away an entertainment book with minor value.
I have figured it myself and the comments I have got with this last one are just ludicrous.
From throwing a dart to getting a JP involved.
Seriously 😀😀
Not one of my better posts I must say !!!

Well perhaps you should have mentioned that when asking for advice. Context is everything!

If random draw, use Excel and list all names with 1-25 beside them. Then goto a random number generator site and let it pick. Screenshot it, and paste as proof. Done. Always worked on GPForums :)

I thought the dart board suggestion wasn't too bad - probably too much effort for such a small number of entries, I would have just used a randon number generator and counted down the entries.

The JP comment had a bit of some truth but not quiet. They apply raffles, lotteries and games of chance. http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/personal-community/housie-raffles/games-chance

but TBH no one is going to care

Wouldn't it be considered a lottery, or draw, game of chance though, as the prize has value, even if the entrants didn't pay money to enter?. I do know someone who did a facebook draw quite recently, and  an I think they had 200 entries, and they put all the entries into a hat (numbers) and got their local Mayor to do the draw it for them. They did a video of the draw which they posted on Facebook and youtube. So that give some legibility to it and makes a good video.

It looks like if you get someone to submit, say their favorite holiday story, and the best story wins, that is a heck of a lot easier, as you then just pick you favorite story!

I agree! Not one of your better posts. I feel like your behavior throughout has been quite unreasonable.

I present to you the Good Luck Fairy: http://www.fanpagekarma.com/facebook-promotion my saving grace for social media giveaways on Facebook.

I also have an 'Expand All Comments' tool on my bookmarks, idk how I found it but I click it and like magic, it expands all the FB comments. However it does take a while if you have more than 100+ comments.
