Never use Paypal. Never have. There are always alternatives. A debit card works wonders.
For all its faults and often scummy behaviour, Paypal has played an important role in facilitating overseas payments, in particular for smaller sums.
Now with the spread of Wise, Revolut, etc., it is not as necessary as it used to be, but in my industry, it is a fallback, almost default way of paying people who do work for me overseas.

I have been using PayPal since it came out as a Palm Pilot app. I never had a problem with it, and I trust it to run the Geekzone subscription.
This is not to say a company they own couldn't be running a less than kosher business.

The problem is the affiliate does know it's being hijacked, as they don't know someone was going to purchase, they just know someone clicked the link (if they have that kind of analytics from their own site). They would only know if someone actually purchase the subscription, by the commission they got.
No wonder PayPal paid $4 Billion for Honey.
Honey are eating everyone's Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, leaving some moldy crumbs.
Even second Breakfast is not safe.
Stuffing everyone in the chain.
Users, Vendors, and Influencers/Advertisers who think they are getting paid rather than paying.
The cat having escaped the bag other companies are moving into this profitable dodgy dealing.
That's only part 1 with more parts of this expose to go.
