I've sent a message to close my account and delete all data. Probably a bit late but meh.
They will probably just ignore because most websites don't do anything with emails. It would be probably more actionable if citing the Privacy Act and mention a response is expected.

Their website says they'll action it so let's see.

I have successfully deactivated my account online. Didn't have to contact them. It is only deactivation though - not deletion?

I requested delete at 1.18pm, was confirmed at 2.20pm. Emails go through Zendesk and thats pretty quick response! Came back with:
I have arranged for your account to be fully deleted - your details will be automatically removed from our system in accordance with our privacy policy. In the meantime, your account is deactivated and nothing you have shared with Neighbourly is visible on the Neighbourly website or app.

Yup mine is now deleted too.
A friend of mine tried to get me to join this a while ago (she lives in Dunedin, so not really a "neighbour"). I didn't bother as I didn't see the point, maybe I dodged a bullet?
Based upon what I've just been told, people who have deleted their accounts (prior to the breach) will not have any data included in the breach.

We can confirm that your profile is deleted and therefore no data from it was included in the breach.
As your profile is deleted we no longer have any record of you or when your account was deleted so we are unable to confirm this.

Neighbourly Experience
I received an email from Neighbourly today, which invited me to read more about their data breach. However, the "read more" asked me to log in.
Given the data breach, I did not log in from the email, but rather logged in directly. There, indeed, was a personal message about the breach, but it did not tell me whether my data had been taken or not nor, if it had been taken, what data were involved.
I therefore tried to follow the FAQ link provided in the message, but the link did not work. There were other links (like how to protect yourself from scams) and how to complain to the Privacy Commissioner, which I did not try to follow.
This all seems very shonky, especially being asked to log in from an email purporting to come from Neighbourly. Surely I should be informed if my data were taken, and informed in a straightforward, honest, way?
