Recently attended the FlyAirNZ Social Media Breakfast with Randi Zuckerberg and really enjoyed it. While a lot of what was said was nothing new, it was still great to be amongst some great thinkers.

I'm dead keen to go to this conference:

And wondering who else is going? The ticket price is ouchy though so I may end up having to live this event vicariously through peoples' tweets ~_~

Too much Social Media. I am planning on attending TEDxAuckland which seems to be covering more topics outside the echo chamber (and we'll have some tickets to giveaway before the event).

Social media isn't a bad thing, just as long as it's not a Social Media 101 thing, cause paying that much for that isn't cool.

Ta for the link to TEDxAuckland. That is totally a doer! (although I'll be gunning for a free ticket!) :)

Going to both TEDxAuckland and The Project. Serving different purposes.

TEDx is a great forum for inspirational stories and outside of the box ideas. I went to the 2010 one and loved the eclectic mix - Team One Beep, a writer who walked across Afganistan, the Saami sisters.

Social media events are a bit tougher. I've been to hits and misses - and if you work in the industry a lot of what is said has been said, plenty. I reckon John Lai (from SMNZ) knows this, and he wouldn't plan an event that didn't deliver.

The cost is pretty high but people like myself and other media, and Twitterers, will no doubt be live blogging anything interesting coming out.
