I am not sure if this is the right forum for this but here goes...

Yesterday I cancelled my Facebook account, never used it anyway. I have to wait 14 days for it be be finally gone, all good.
But, now when I connect to some sites, notably NZ Herald and Geekzone I see at the bottom of my browser when on Geekzone "waiting for www.facebook.com" and the spinning loading thingie keeps on spinning, Chrome or Firefox, both the same.
Ditto with NZ Herald except it says "waiting for connect.facebook.net.
Not a huge problem in itself, I tried deleting cookies to see if that would get rid of it but no joy. The big problem now though is the virtual rugby site that the Herald has will not let me sign in, just get that "waiting for connect etc" and the page never loads.
Any thoughts on how to get rid of whatever is blocking me?
Thanks.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

disconnect works nicely for any sites with that annoying social media tracking.
