I like heaps of pages and comment on heaps of pages eg nzherald and doyouevenlift.
How do I hide these comments from showing to my friends?
I had some friends notified about comments I made on a "like" page that they weren't even on.

That's facebook for you...You possibly can't, but there are a huge amount of privacy setings that may help. I am guessing it is a notification setting
A little off track, but anyone know when a company has a facebook page, and it shows that there are a lot of comments for a posting. However when you click to view the comments, none of them appear, or only one or two appear. Is it the company hiding those comments so people can't see them?

I have a facebook account but never use it to log into any other sites. Disconnect your facebook account from the other sites and rather setup separate accounts for each of the other sites you frequent.

I want to find out too. It is quite annoying. I guess indeed that is Facebook for you.

You seriously need to check out your settings again.
Theres many options to auto hide what you post. Theres also little icons on each post you make to control who sees the post.

Check out the top right of your FB screen, it has a little down arrow and proceed to choose 'settings'. (or you can choose 'help' and it will answer the question you have very nicely).

Now look on the left hand side options of this page and work your way down.

AS mentioned the help menu is good... it also shows you how to control your posts 'in the moment'.

'only me' is a good option to choose.

Gooseybhai: 'only me' is a good option to choose.

Those options are not available on public "like" pages, only when you are posting something to your own timeline. I don't know if you can hide these comments for that very reason, that they are public pages. I agree it is highly annoying and it stops me from posting a lot of the time because i know that it will appear on the news feed.

The op is asking for the ability to post publicly. But not allowing his friends to see his posts. But he is happy for the rest of the world to see it?

The best solution is therefore to not post to a public forum.

Otherwise unlink your facebook account with these third party websites. That way your comments will never make their way to your facebook news feed. If its facebook pages you posting to then I don't think there is much you can do.

so you sign up to something where you use your real name, then post on a public group under that name, but want to hide these posts?
