My youngest has chicken pox at the moment, so my wife mentioned it on Facebook.... lot of friends asking how the young one is etc, how bad and so on. Last night my wife asked me to take a photo of my daughter to use on FB.... so I took a pic which was from the tummy up (showing a very happy smiling little spotty girl) and posted it onto my timeline thinking my wife will just share it. But no, she copied it and posted onto her timeline instead - thats fine.

Within an hour, Facebook had removed the image because someone had reported it as being offensive/whatever ! Couldnt believe it....  our friends know us very well and know we would never put our kids photos online without forethought. So I checked my timeline.... image still present and nothing from FB about it.

My wife contested the takedown but this morning was notified by FB that they had agreed it was offensive and it would not be made available.

Ive seen a lot lot lot worse photos on Facebook, yet they take down one of our little girl.

I find it completely ridiculous and surely whoever viewed the photo at FB would have realized there was nothing suspicious/dubious about the image.

And yes, I know they own us when we use Facebook and their word is final etc..........

Wait till Facebook tells you when to eat and when to sleep. They ain't controlling you yet.

Jokes aside, it's probably because your photo is taken with an Android. If you use iphone and take a square pic with bad exposure and light flare with a retro filter and touch-blur touch up of the belly button it will be fine

Was it public or friends only?

Someone had to report it to start with...

Friends only, obviously someone who was only on my wifes friends list and not mine. Have pretty good idea who it is now...

And I did think about an automatic system, but the message did state that "someone" had complained, if it was an automatic system the wording would hopefully be different "facebook has detected a potentially offensive image" or along those lines.

Ill get my wife to contest it again (or if cant, just put the image up again) and see what happens... she did put up a medical drawing of a penis on her timeline in protest - thats still there. :-p
