I just came across a useful and very pertinent lesson for those choosing a name for future Internet related endeavors

I got a suggestion email from twitter as to "how to improve things"

one of the suggestions was the use of the hash-tag as an identifier for business

Out of interest (and because i was doing my morning troll of trade me) I put in #trademe

The response was a lot of people who were suggesting a swap of job , position etc a "trademe"

So when choosing that name there is one more criteria you need to address what the hash-tag will return!

I will work on the presumption that you are here using it as an example of double meaning
of course I was using it in this meaning

merriam webster

1troll

verb \ˈtrōl

: to fish with a hook and line that you pull through the water

: to search for or try to get (something)

: to search through (something)

I always thought that searching thru stuff looking for something was to trawl it. As in fishing with a large net. That's how it always has been for me. Trolling is the act of being a dick on the Internet.

In fishing:

trawling - dragging a net
trolling  - dragging a few hooks or lures - usually game fishing

I can't believe I just spent 10 minutes tolling the dictionary pages to see diffrent definitions of the word Troll.

It seems that mainly in the US is the term troll linked to looking around

The main deffinition in European society is both a Norse creature and a dickhead on the net.

I will now hassle my daughter who has access to a few language people see what she comes up with

I am sure she will say "theres this thing called google!"
