My timeline has been swamped with adverts today.

I'd go so far to say every fourth item has been an advert or suggested post and it hasn't stopped all day.

I've been half contemplating ditching FB altogether and if this is going to continue it could be the last straw.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Ive heard through friends (grain of salt) that messenger may be the culprit, as it uses the microphone even when not in use to follow conversations in order to target more appropriate ads.
The example one used was he was in aussie recently, and while his phone was in his pocket he was discussing with his partner(spontaneously unplanned discussion) about a quick overnight trip to some wine region 250 km away from where they were. He hadnt been googling the area or even typed it into his phone.
20 minutes later he opened facebook on his phone and there was a couple ads for accommodation in the same wine region in his newsfeed.
He deleted the messenger app and swears the targeted ads on his newsfeed have decreased since doing so.
But as I said, take it with a grain of salt, but could be worth trying to see if it has any effect on the ads.
