is there any way of getting the facebook app on a device without giving it unfettered access to your contacts, emails etc?
I want to start putting up FB posts for a community organisation but after signing up for face book and seeing how much they knew about me ( 25 pages of who I might know including stuff going back to my early school years) despite me not having an FB account - i want to ensure I don't do that to someone else.
The info they have on me was gleaned mostly from the apps on phones belonging to people who dont care about privacy ( or think they haven't given FB info by allowing them access to their contacts etc).
Also as a community / social worker - for me to put FB on my work phone and give access would breach so many privacy laws it is not funny. however the app is a good way to take quick photos, and do quick posts - keeping people up to date and building community - just not at the expense of privacy.
I'm considering getting a virgin device nad using it strictly for FB - but who needs to carry a third phone now days? (personal , work and FB phone)
