Seems Twitter has been subjected to a large-scale hack; many accounts taken over and used to send BitCoin related scam messages.


"Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Apple, and others hacked in unprecedented Twitter attack" is the headline on this link...

According to some of the screenshots that got leaked, hackers got access to twitters admin panel via a compromised staff members account and were selling off access.
