Looks like Signal has gone down, perhaps under the weight of mass defections from WhatsApp since Facebook changed the WhatsApp Ts&Cs

My Android version says "Signal is experiencing technical difficulties. We are working hard to restore service as quickly as possible"
My Windows desktop client says "Disconnected. Check your network connection"

😒

I've been thinking about moving to Signal, but the problem is getting everyone I regularly communicate with to move as well. Not much point moving if you still have people on Whatsapp and have to have it installed, unless you switch to plain old text messages for them.

Does it work on desktop only yet or is it still tied to a phone number and act as a replacement for SMS?

The latter but you can use it on desktop in the same way as you set up WhatsApp desktop to link it to your account

If I have setup Signal on my iPhone can I also link it to my iPad and Desktop so I can receive messages on all 3 devices?
