Two of my family have received this phishing message on Signal this afternoon:

[purported sending number deliberately obscured]

Apparently from two different +84 (Vietnam) numbers.

I'm amazed that this can even be done

Is there any way of reporting this kind of thing - I mean in a way that might conceivably produce a good result?

Is it from another signal account, or just that your family are using signal to receive sms messages via signal?

They appear to be from Signal accounts.

Well blow me down if I didn't just get one myself!

Shame there is only "Block and Delete", not "Report, block and delete".

Yeah, got one as well.

Mine actually had the Amazon logo as the profile picture & the name came through as AMAZON.

Yeah, I got one the exact same as you describe - and I only installed Signal yesterday! Not a great first impression...

Several threads on reddit about this - seems to be the same number from Vietnam and has being doing the rounds in Europe and across the ditch. Doesn't seem to be so prevalent in the States yet but has been going on for several months now.
