I've noticed one FB buy/sell group that I am a member of (and which appears to be poorly moderated) has a lot of the following kinds of posts; I'm assuming they're spams/scams of some kind, but not sure how they are intended to work. Can anyone explain this?! Ta.

Unsure, maybe they are just lonely scammers :)

As an aside, non linear questions like this trip up AIs big time, - Don;t ask them how long it will take for your towels to dry :)

From what I can tell, comment or interact = their script grabs the notification and starts DMing you or inviting you to other junk pages/groups to hide it from AI.

For kicks find a public/open group with no admin join verification and type something like 'my Instagram was hacked'

Watch the AI come out in force and tell you to get hold of their mates who can sort it ..

Super interesting, could you please elaborate if possible on this bit? "Watch the AI come out in force and tell you to get hold of their mates who can sort it"

I guess they want to get the reply count up for some reason too? There isn't enough detail in the question to come up with a 100% "correct" answer: you could say that the three pairs of eggs are different eggs, or you could conclude that the same two eggs are broken, then fried, then eaten. The debate would probably rage for a while, and I suppose there's some benefit to the original poster (does it make their own posts appear more prominently or something?).

Fake account recovery scammers join groups/pages and search the Facebook domain for 'hacked' etc using bots.

If you post something like 'sorry my account was hacked' you suddenly get profiles posting links, or Saying 'reach out to x on Instagram, he can help recover it. They helped me' for an upfront Bitcoin payment, naturally

Despite not being anyone you know.

Crap like this is to drive interaction and get you to message so that they can message back to you, since a page cannot generally message out.

This and the @ everyone and @ followers spam that pages post has had me unfollow a hell of a lot of vaugely intersting things.

Well I was curious...

Hello! I'd be happy to help you with your laundry question. The drying time for your laundry can vary depending on various factors such as humidity, wind speed, and the thickness of the fabric. However, on a warm February day in Auckland, with a good amount of sunlight and a gentle breeze, your laundry should typically take around 2-4 hours to dry. It's always a good idea to keep an eye on the weather conditions and adjust accordingly.

Just remembered what happened to someone else - page established like this and then later on renamed to support services or something like that and started to request details be confirmed in typical bad phishing messages from a page now called support services with a very facebooky logo on it.

Thats the other trick with page building. Get as many people on it. Sell it as an asset for $$$ with pre determined audience ready and waiting.
They squat on abandoned ones and muscle in on admin to do the same.

All against terms of course. But then they also dont Think pages impersonating sky city is against terms (or nz law)

This is what I was referring to.

Cial today posted about a fake $3 baggage scam to be aware of.

There's at least 5 of these appeared within an hour due to the use of the terms in the text they look for.
