Apparently the first time a person in new zealand has been sentenced for a social media crime

If distributing indecent matter is illegal I wonder if the DIA filter is blocking these things too.So is it safe to post those nsfw photos on 'adult' social media sites?

I guess that is a lesson learned, people have this idea that they can do what they want on the internet and that everything they type/upload falls under some freedom of speech amendment.

As you mentioned the DIA filter, I believe that is restricted to child porn.... ie young kids

"The Island Bay painter was jailed for four months after pleading guilty to a charge of distributing indecent matter and six others of threatening to kill, wilful damage, theft of the woman's clothes, and assault.

I know whch one the media have pounced on, but lets be honest it was pretty minor compared to the other charges. Yet another media sensationalist story.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

The DIA filter works like this:

1.DIA manually compiles list of URL destinations with illegal child porn material
2.ISPs join the filter
3.Everytime you request a page the ISP submit to the filter
4.If the filter returns positive then you will see a "BLOCKED" page

You can see there that the DIA filter is not for "nsfw" photos in social media sites. It's limited exclusively (at this moment), to the illegal material listed in (1).

Also, moved to correct forum, changed the subject (please use a meaningful subject for your discussions folks).

So what exactly is an 'indecent model or object'? If I take a nude pic of myself(not saying I will) and upload it to facebook(i know it would be against their tos) do I need to worry about that?
