Facebook Places is finally able to be used in New Zealand.

For those that don't know, it is Facebook's alternative to foursquare.

Let the News Feed spamming begin :-)

My Android app also says it's not yet available in NZ. I guess they're rolling it out.

Hey so it is! That's the last thing my VPN was being used for so I guess I can cancel that now :)

So either it's rolling out very slowly, or you have some special way to get to it? My Android app still says it's coming to my region soon.

Works on the iPhone app straight away with no special means of access. In the past I used a VPN to use Places but not now.

I guess iOS rollout first, then Android...

its pretty cool, I've been using it here in Australia for the week and just today noted that a good friend was just down the road which makes catching up pretty easy.

I also like the fact that I can just use one app to keep up with my friends news and see where they are out and about instead of having to use Foursquare and Facebook.

This must be the slowest roll-out ever - I still don't have it, tried it on Android, Blackberry and mobile touch site...

Facebook roll outs are usually pretty slow, i know some people who are still only getting the new profile page now, and the new facebook photo viewer isn't meant to be 100% for 2 more months yet i have it now.

I also notice the roll outs aren't always for account but sometimes they are for device - if i log in at home i get the new facebook photo viewer but not at work.

Tried resetting your devices to clear out the caches? Could be all you need to do...

I just installed a new ROM (moved from Oxygen2.0 to CM7) so yep! And still no Facebook Places.

I just cleared out all data and cache on my Android for the Facebook app, and after getting it all up and going again, still no Places.

So I'm going with that it's at Facebook's end.

Facebook needs a setting saying yes, I'm a geek, I want to be first with new features...
