Is there a technical advantage to naked adsl?

I can understand not wanting to pay for a service you don't use, but was wondering if for example someone had $100 for 30gb on both naked and normal adsl, if you would notice a quailty difference by opting for the naked?

Cheers

whether you have a pots phone line or not should not effect the adsl service.

blakamin: You haven't recently (within the last 2 years), tried to start an ISP in India have you?

Just checkin' :P

This is brilliant :)

@OP, are you planning on launching as a virtual ISP, pigging backing off another establish provider, or are you planning to build a network of your own?

While not trying to put a dampener on your plans, retail ISP services are so low margin that unless you have scale its not really feasible. Did you have any particular point of differentiation which you would pitch at geeks besides a possible funky name?

Although if you did name the company 'lolinternets' I'm sure you'd get users signing up out of respect ;)

The landline is a hidden additional cost to most broadband plans that are not naked DSL, its only on the bundles that ISPs are actually honest about the total price of their broadband.

I have no desire to have an analog landline that only operates in one location for 6 to 8x the same service delivered over IP once you add in the comparable features

There is a benefit in that you will get slightly better speeds without all the filters and crap attached to the line, and its one less hoop to jumpthru when calling the ISP to get chorus onto fixing their dated cabling, the whole isolation test is a pain in the @$$ to do and mean another call back to the ISP and more time wasted.
